Recognizing that public health education must evolve to meet current public health challenges, Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (SPHTM) initiated the Curriculum Revitalization Initiative in the Fall, 2013.  Guided by the Framing the Future Master of Public Health Degree for the 21st Century, two Taskforces were created to examine the public health core courses and the MPH and MSPH programs.  The core course taskforce examined several models for the core curriculum and recommended the greater integration of core areas while keeping the individual course framework.  The taskforce also recommended increasing practical applications and exercises.  SPHTM is piloting blended learning formats for the core courses that incorporate online modules for enduring materials to respond to learning styles of technology savvy students.   The MPH task force made recommendations on the structure of the MPH programs to insure a depth of study.  This taskforce also developed 11 new certificate programs to serve as a second area of focus to complement the MPH degree.
