MAB1 Communicating the Value of Public Health to Influencers and the Public

Monday, March 23, 2015: 10:15 AM-11:45 AM
Potomac 3 (Hyatt Regency Crystal City)
Description: The value of our schools and programs to the public and to local, state and federal policy makers is self-evident to most faculty and educational leaders. However, the recent Ebola crisis showed that many in the public and in policy arena do not understand the role of public health or how America’s public health system is organized and operates. This session will consider how faculty and institutional leaders can best communicate with policy leaders and the public to advance their communication objectives.
Presenters:
Joshua M. Sharfstein, MD, Associate Dean for Public Health Practice and Training, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Katherine Lyon Daniel, PhD, Associate Director for Communication, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
