Description: The 21st century public health workforce requires effective forms of continuing professional education to enhance their capacity to meet the goal of improving the health of Americans and in light of accreditation standards requiring training and development to develop and maintain a competent public health workforce. The de Beaumont sponsored Workforce Development Consortium convened national public health leaders from all levels and functions of the governmental public health workforce to address future cross-cutting training needs.  The evolving needs of the governmental public health workforce and the successes and failures experienced with various forms of technological tools (e.g. Coursera, online certification programs) in trying to meet those educational gaps will be discussed by panelists. Also, panelists will describe how they may envision improved implementation of and support for workforce development in light of Consortium findings.
