Salon 5 (Crystal Gateway Marriott)
Summary: During this session attendees will hear form ASPPH Data Center staff on the development of the ASPPH Institutional Research Manual and Academic Public Health Taxonomy. ASPPH Data Center Member Portal administrators and users will then present case studies of how they are using the system at their institutions. This will be followed by small breakouts where teams will pose questions, use the Manual and the ASPPH Data Center to answer those questions, and then report back to the group.
Description: The ASPPH Data Center provides valuable resources for conducting analysis on institutional data from CEPH-accredited ASPPH members and other sources, such as the National Center for Education Statistics. This workshop will introduce these resources, present real-world examples of their use, and provide instruction on using data analytics to track trends, benchmark goals, and inform decisions at schools and programs of public health. Using the information presented and the provided ASPPH Data Center analytics guide, interactive breakout groups will work on different case studies and report out on their process, findings, and ideas.

Each attendee should bring a laptop/tablet device (Wi-Fi provided) and will receive a copy of the instructional guide and a temporary Data Center Member Portal account (if attendee does not have an existing account.) The target audience for this workshop are administrators, faculty and staff at schools and programs of public health.

The Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) Data Center has developed the first Institutional Research Manual for ASPPH Data Center Member Portal data administrators and users as well as member deans and program primary representatives. This Manual works in conjunction with the ASPPH Academic Public Health Taxonomy and Common Data project. The purpose of this session is to train Data Center users how best to use ASPPH Annual Data to conduct institutional research that will improve trend tracking, benchmarking, and decision-making at their schools and programs of public health and universities. Each attendee will receive a copy of the ASPPH Institutional Research Manual.
