Description: The allocation of scarce research funding by federal agency and other sponsors often appears to be arbitrary and not linked to the potential impact of the research or research opportunity. This session will discuss the allocation of research resources and the challenges that public health and prevention research face in the battle for research funding.  The session will suggest ways that federal research funding priorities can be shaped by advocacy, public education, and evidence.
